Colin Orchard was born in Ewell, Surrey in 1935. In 1983 he moved from Dorking to St Ives to devote more time to his painting. He paints full time and has exhibited extensively at more than fifty art venues throughout the country. His paintings have regularly featured at the Royal Academy Summer Shows. In 2007 he was appointed a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.

Colin Orchard is an impressionist painter, influenced by artists such as Sickert and Vuillard. All of his paintings are oil on calico mounted on board. He prepares his own panels, using traditional methods for glueing , priming the panels and gessoing the frames.

Colin Orchard’s atmospheric paintings are widely collected throughout the UK.
